# Creating Deals

Deals can be created manually or generated automatically from your connected integrations.

## Creating a deal manually

1. Click the **+** button in the sidebar or pipeline view
2. Enter a deal name and select the company
3. Set the initial stage, value, and close date
4. Add relevant contacts from the company
5. Click **Create**

## Auto-created deals

When integrations are connected, Operate can suggest new deals based on:

* **Calendar meetings** with new contacts at target companies
* **Email threads** that signal buying intent
* **Slack conversations** in connected deal channels

You'll receive a notification to confirm and fill in deal details.

## Best practices

* **Name deals descriptively** — include the company name and what you're selling (e.g. "Acme Corp — Enterprise Plan")
* **Set a close date** — even if it's an estimate, it keeps your forecast realistic
* **Add all relevant contacts** — deals rarely involve just one person
* **Create a Next Step immediately** — every new deal should have a clear next action
