# Next Steps Overview

Next Steps are the action items that keep your deals moving forward. They're a first-class concept in Operate — not buried in notes or task lists, but front and center in your workflow.

## What is a Next Step?

A Next Step is a specific action tied to a deal, person, or company:

* "Send proposal to Jane at Acme Corp"
* "Schedule follow-up call with engineering team"
* "Share case study with procurement lead"

## Key attributes

| Field | Description |
| --------- | ------------------------------------------ |
| Title | A clear description of the action |
| Owner | The team member responsible |

## Where Next Steps appear

* **Dashboard** — your personal list of what's due today and what's coming up
* **Deal pages** — all next steps for a specific deal
* **Slack** — daily and weekly digests (see [Slack Updates](/help/next-steps/slack-updates))
* **PowerHour** — a focused session to knock out your next steps (see [PowerHour](/help/next-steps/powerhour))

## Creating Next Steps

Next Steps can be created:

* Manually from any deal or person page
* From meeting follow-ups after calendar events
* Via Slack commands in connected deal channels
