# Connecting Slack Deal Channels

Deal channels are Slack channels linked to a specific deal in Operate. They create a dedicated space for your team to discuss an opportunity with full CRM context.

## Linking a channel

1. Open a deal in Operate
2. Click **Connect Slack Channel**
3. Choose an existing channel or create a new one
4. The channel is now linked — updates from Operate will flow into it

## What gets posted

When a deal channel is connected, Operate automatically posts:

* **Stage changes** — when the deal moves forward (or backward)
* **Next step updates** — when next steps are created, completed, or overdue
* **New contacts** — when people are added to the deal
* **Notes and feedback** — when team members log insights

## Taking action from Slack

From a deal channel, you can:

* Create new next steps with `/operate next-step`
* Complete next steps directly from the notification message
* View the full deal summary with `/operate deal`

## Best practices

* **One channel per active deal** — keeps conversations focused
* **Name channels consistently** — e.g. `#deal-acme-enterprise`
* **Archive channels when deals close** — keeps your workspace tidy
